2024 Books 📚
Thoughts about book for this year!
Hey developers, I hope you are doing well 🙄
One of the things I do each year is to plan the books I read, and this comes from different factors because I want to read in other areas, such as coding, self-development, religion, and business books.
One of the things that I will do this year is to re-read the books I found good in the past, try to summarize them, and note critical passages, as this will help to bring up more tasks and actions to perform from each book.
But how do I select the books? 📕
Whenever I find a book endorsed either on social media, YouTube videos, or anywhere, or when I see it referenced a lot by books I read, I add it to the books list I have on a notion page. This helps me a lot to create a book pool I can select from to read each time.
The Books List 📔
Here are the Books I will read this year inshallah, including technical, self-help, business, self-help and productivity:
The One Thing (Re-read).

100M offers (Re-read).
Deep Work (Re-read).

Tools of Titans.
Digital Minimalism.

Question and Answers ❓
Q1: Don’t you find repeating stuff in productivity books?
Yes, my brother asked this question. He noticed that I always include productivity books in my readings, so I told him this: Yes, I get to see repeated stuff, so he asked me, isn’t this a waste of time? I told myself well, yes, but no!
I do repeat reading those stuff because first, I get to see the idea more than one time with different perspectives from different authors, so this builds more awareness of the principle so It is more likely that I can implement such a technique; second, authors have different variations of implementing the same method, so getting exposed to the same idea from other authors is a good thing!
This is the same for technical books; if you read books about testing, you will likely see the same ideas in all books but different perspectives and experiences since they are from other authors!
Q2: Do you read multiple books simultaneously (simultaneously)?
Yep, I do, but I do it with different kinds of books; for example, in the same month, I could be reading a technical book about testing, a book about business, a different one about religion, and some productivity book! And trust me, this won’t make you any less productive or you will lose focus to grasp the books. You can try it, and if you cannot concentrate and understand what you are reading, get back to reading one book each time.
Q3: Do you apply everything you read?
Here is the thing: when you read a book, you will see many things that you need to perform, many techniques and ideas to implement in your business, life, or code. I try to figure out the most essential tips from the book (the 20% that can lead me to 80% of the results), but getting one tip to implement fully from a book is better than JUST reading!
There is a nice post from Tiago Forte, which is if you can read one book in a year and implement it fully, it is much better to read 100 books and implement nothing; Actions are always much better.
✅ Tip of the week
Create and track your book reading for this year, make a goal of reading at least one book a month, get one or two actions to implement from the book, and you will make a massive change in your life!
PS. Comment on this post or reply to this email, and I will send you the notion template for managing my books.
