10 Must-Have Productivity Tools for Developers
Hey there, my dear friends! How are you all doing today? I'm super excited to share some amazing productivity tools that have been a game-changer for me. I hope they help you as much as they helped me!
1. ChatGPT
There is no need for an introduction, as this tool is incredibly helpful for increasing productivity in a variety of areas. You can use it to generate code, write emails, rephrase documents, and even review code. Personally, my favorite way to use it is to create complex regular expressions.
(PS. I wrote this newsletter myself, not using ChatGPT 😂)
2. Iterm2 or Cmder
Of course, you will need to perform some commands on your computer. The native tools that come with Windows or Mac are pretty standard, but you can use Cmdr (Windows) or iTerm2 (Mac) for more functionalities and options to boost your productivity.
3. PostMan
If you're a developer or API enthusiast, then you simply cannot afford to overlook the power of Postman. This amazing tool makes API testing, collaboration, and development a breeze, thanks to its incredibly user-friendly platform.
4. F.Lux
As humans, we often spend long hours sitting in front of our computers, particularly during the night. To prevent eye fatigue and improve the quality of our sleep, F.Lux can adjust the color temperature of our screens.
5. Toggl
That which is measured improves — Karl Pearson.
If you want to improve your productivity, it's essential to measure it. One of the best tools to track what you're doing on all your devices is Toggl. This tool not only tracks your activities but also provides insights and analytics on where you spend most of your time so that you can improve it.
6. Everything
If you used Windows normal search features for your files and documents, then you know it won’t bring you any results (most of the time), I have been using Everthing as a tool for that, and it has been a really time saver for locating important files.
7. Clipboard management
Copying and pasting is a common practice in our daily routine, but finding the copied content is not always easy. Windows has a built-in clipboard manager, but Mac users need an app such as Maccy to access their clipboard history and streamline their workflow.
8. LazyGit
Are you still using commands to perform all your git operations? You might be wasting a lot of time, my friend. Have you heard of an awesome tool called LazyGit? It allows you to perform the same commands using keyboard shortcuts instead of aliases. Give it a try!
9. Notion
This list would not be complete without mentioning Notion, which is an all-in-one platform to manage almost everything I have. From creating videos to writing newsletters like this one, Notion allows me to organize my work environment with customizable building blocks for note-taking, project management, and collaboration. With Notion, I can keep all my essential information in one place and stay organized.
10. Zapier
As developers, we often automate most of our work. However, connecting to different applications through their APIs can be time-consuming. Zapier, with its new free plan, can help us supercharge our automation game. It links your favorite applications and automates repetitive tasks, saving you time.
